Book Review: All The Rage by Cara Hunter

A girl is taken from the streets of Oxford. But it’s unlike any abduction DI Fawley’s seen before . . .

Faith Appleford was attacked, a plastic bag tied over her head, taken to an isolated location . . . and then, by some miracle, she escaped.

What’s more, when DC Erica Somer interviews Faith, she quickly becomes convinced that Faith knows who her abductor is.

Yet Faith refuses to press charges.

Without more evidence, it’s looking like the police may have to drop the case.

But what happens if Faith’s attacker strikes again?

I was very excited to be invited to take part in the blog tour for All The Rage, the latest book from Cara Hunter.

A girl is found in a state, walking along the side of the road. It is obvious she has been attacked.

DI Adam Fawley and his team have little to go on, especially as the victim doesn’t want to press charges.

When a second girl disappears, Adam knows time is short.

This story really played on my fears. I did creep myself out whilst reading, jumping at little noises.

Cara Hunter is becoming one of my favourite authors in this genre.

This story did have a slightly different feel than the others I’ve read but in my opinion, that wasn’t a bad thing.

In this novel, you get to know a little more about Adam Fawley. It’s good to see him get further character development as Hunter reveals more about his past, his relationship with his wife and how he operates as a person.

It was also good to catch up with other members of Fawley’s team and I hope we get to know more about them in future books.

There are more than enough plot twists to have kept me guessing until the last page.

I really did find this a suburb thriller, that was an emotional rollercoaster. It was dark and compelling. Tension builds so well and in places, it scared the hell out of me.

Pick it up, give it a read and see what you think. Personally, I loved it.

Cara lives in the city she writes about. Oxford will be familiar to crime fans across the whole world because of the fabulous Morse novels and TV, but her version of the town is a long way from the beautiful ivy-clad colleges. A much edgier place where the crimes are darker and closer to home.

Cara has always been a voracious reader and viewer of crime – She learned so much from the outstanding writing that we now see on crime TV like Line of Duty or Broadchurch, and she’s tried to recreate the experience of watching series like that for her readers. Cara loves true crime TV as well – her husband used to tease her about it but now just nods sagely and says ‘research’ !

Cara has pet cats who do their best to distract her whenever she gets close to a keyboard (if you have cats, you’ll know), Cara loves travelling, spending time with friends, and she has never knowingly turned down a glass of champagne….
