Book Review: Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock by Hannah Lynn

I’m happy to be welcoming Hannah Lynn to Novel Kicks and the blog tour for her book, Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock.

There may be trouble ahead…

Just when Daisy thought she had canal life understood, Theo, her primary go-to for all of her boating questions has left Wildflower Lock, not to mention the budding romance that has been steadily growing.

Not one to sit and wallow, Daisy takes matters into her own hands. Who said long-distance relationships can’t work?

With the help of trusted friend Yvonne, Daisy takes the September Rose on a round trip to surprise her new boyfriend. The best thing about a home on the water? You can go anywhere!

But perhaps leaving the serenity of Wildflower Lock wasn’t the best idea. Daisy hates keeping secrets from Theo, and she’s not the only one…

*****

Daisy May feels that life has finally got a little bit of balance. She’s running her café from her canal boat, September Rose and her relationship with new boyfriend, Theo is going well. However, when he needs to go away for work, this sets Daisy on an adventure she wasn’t expecting.

I was very excited to be invited onto the blog tour for Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock. The cover for this book is so beautiful.

I have not read the previous novels in the series (I plan to,) but this didn’t impact my enjoyment of this novel. There was enough information given and I found that I could keep up.

Daisy May is a wonderful character. She’s likeable, relatable and it’s not hard to root for her and for Theo.

Yvonne is also a fun character, if not a little mysterious.

We also all need a Johnny the dog in our lives.

The plot moved well and there were many twists and turns on Daisy’s adventure. The journey she takes on the September Rose sounds idyllic and so fun. I’ve stayed on a canal boat a couple of times and this book has reignited a dream to own one.

Blue Skies Over Wildflower Lock is a lovely story full of brilliant characters, an entertaining adventure, love, life and humour. It’s a perfect read, whether you need one for a holiday or just an escape for a while.

I’m Laura. I started Novel Kicks in 2009. I wanted a place to post my writing as well as give other writers like me the opportunity to do the same. There is also a monthly book club, a writing room which features writing prompts, book reviews, competitions, author interviews and guest posts.

I grew up by the sea (my favourite place in the world) and I currently live in Hampshire. I am married to Chris, have a cat named Buddy and I would love to be a writer. I’m trying to write the novel I’ve talked so much about writing if only I could stop pressing delete. I’ve loved writing since creative writing classes in primary school. I have always wanted to see my teacher Miss Sayers again and thank her for the encouragement. When not trying to write the novel or writing snippets of stories on anything I can get my hands on, I love reading, dancing like a loon and singing to myself very badly. My current obsession is Once Upon a Time and I would be happy to live with magic in the enchanted forest surrounded by all those wonderful stories provided that world also included Harry Potter. I love reading chick lit. contemporary fiction and novels with mystery.
