I’m pleased to be welcoming Julie Caplin to Novel Kicks and the blog tour for her book, A Little Place in Prague.
It’s been years since Anna has seen Leo Knight. And of all the apartments in all the cities in all the world, he just happens to walk in to her cosy new attic home – as her new housemate.
As the two walk the cobbled streets of Prague, taking in the sights and sounds from Wenceslas Square, frosted with snow, to the soft glow of candlelit Charles Bridge, the enchantment of the City of a Hundred Spires soon starts to work its magic on them…

I was delighted to be invited onto the blog tour for A Little Place in Prague and I’d like to welcome Julie Caplin back to Novel Kicks.
The premise for this novel sounded so good, I couldn’t wait to get started. Although this is book twelve in the Romantic Escapes series, it can be read as a standalone. So if this book is also your introduction to Julie Caplin’s book series, don’t fear.
I want to give a shout out for the book cover. It’s absolutely stunning and one of my favourites of the year.
I immediately got pulled into this novel and didn’t want to stop reading. Anna and Leo have crackling chemistry and seeing their relationship develop, as well as learning more about them, was an interesting and wonderful ride.
Anna is a strong woman. She just doesn’t back herself enough. A lesson for us all perhaps?
Is Leo a ladies man or misunderstood? Well, I’m not telling.
The supporting characters were amazing, especially Jan and Michaela. There’s such a warm set of characters in this story. If this book is anything to go by, Julie Caplin had a gift for creating loveable, relatable yet flawed characters that feel very real and believable.
There were a couple of frustrating characters in my opinion but again, I’m giving nothing else away on that front.
The plot moved along very nicely. There wasn’t one dull moment. It’s a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally. I knew there was going to be a defining moment when something was going to cause conflict. I couldn’t predict where this would be as there were a few things set up within the narrative.
The setting of Prague is written so vividly, I thought I was there. It’s definitely convinced me that I need to go visit.
A Little Place in Prague is a beautiful, sweet, warm, well crafted story full of romance and affirmation. It reminds us that mistakes can be fixed, loyalty and love isn’t always conditional and that friendship, love, self acceptance, the right kind of family around you and trust come above all else – it’s just sometimes hard to remember.
I loved this book and I hope you add it to your autumn reading list. It’s definitely a great book to escape into for a while as a tonic against the not so good in the world right now.
Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, One More Chapter and Netgalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.
