Here’s my Gift Guide for 2017.
I can’t quite believe it’s time for another gift guide. It doesn’t seem five minutes ago that I compiled the one for last year. I love looking at people’s various gift guides as you’ll possibly come across the perfect present for someone.
This guide is for writers and readers and I’ve picked some things I know I would love to receive.
The first gift I have found is this fantastic Bespoke Book Subscription from The Willoughby Book Club.
There are options for a three, six or twelve month subscription. It’s tailored to the person getting the subscription so whether the book lover in your life is into romance, classics, mystery or sci-fi, this subscription has you covered.
It comes in a gift tin with details on how the subscription can be activated and each month, a new book will arrive gift wrapped.
What I absolutely love about this particular subscription is that for every one sold, Willoughby Book Club donates a new book to the Book Aid International charity.
These pencils I think would make a wonderful stocking filler for the reader and writer in your life. This very cute and colourful book lover pencil set are five 2B lead pencils.
Embossed with gold foil, each one has a different phrase: ‘Just one more chapter,’ ‘Read More Books,’ ‘I like Big Books,’ ‘I’d rather be reading,’ and finally the classic ‘Once Upon a Time.’
There’s also a handy eraser on the end of each pencil. These particular ones are available via The Literary Emporium.
If it’s a sprinkle of inspiration you’re aiming to give this Christmas, this journal from Chronicle Books might be what you need.
There is space for when inspiration strikes but also prompts if you want a little bit of a helping hand. It’s three hundred and eighty-eight pages with a ribbon marker.
I’m loving the cover to this too. I’ve recently acquired this journal and I am loving using it. It’s hardback so is in no way flimsy and it’s the perfect size to slip into a handbag or rucksack.
This ‘Yes, I’m Actually Reading This’ bookmark pad from Knock Knock will come in handy. I am strict when it comes to using bookmarks. I am not one of these readers that can fold down the page (I think I can still hear my Guide Captain screaming in my ear when she saw me doing this in my guide hand book once.’)
I’ve used these bookmarks before and they are so handy. As well as a bookmark there’s space to add any notes you may want to make about the book; maybe for a review or a book club?
There are twenty-five bookmarks in this page so should last a little while depending on how quick a reader you are.
I think this next item is simply genius. Any writer will know that the moment you are away from a notebook and pen, inspiration will appear and what worst place for this to happen than in the shower.
These Aqua note pads are a perfect solution in my opinion. It can be stuck to the wall of your shower. It’s waterproof and it’s a way to make sure you can write down all the ideas that come to you.
It’s a waterproof notepad… sorted!
Finally, I found this Writer’s Block Gift Set from The Paper Scientist.
This is certainly an item I would find extremely helpful and would love to get as a gift. This would be a perfect tool to have to kick-start the novel that the writer you know wants to write. This is for when you have an idea and you simply don’t know where to go next or how to start.
This box contains a number of booklets (around A6 size,) workbooks and cards to help take a novel from the initial idea to the fully outlined novel.
The contents include character booklets, location booklets items booklets, creatures, booklets, plot and structure booklets as well as scene and idea cards.
It comes with a fine-line marker pen and a storage box.
(N.B: I have not been paid for featuring these products. They are simply items I think people would like. If you’d like to see more details about each product, click on the images and this will take you to product pages on the websites in which they feature.)
