Novel Kicks Book Club: My Favourite Mistake by Marian Keyes

How is it already March?

2025 seems to be chuntering along at an alarmingly fast pace. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to notice the longer evenings and, despite it still being very cold out of the sun, the brightness of the last few days has been very welcome.

It’s time for a new book for our book club and I am so excited about this month’s pick.

As you can see, it’s My Favourite Mistake, the latest novel by the amazing Marian Keyes.

I adore this author and can’t wait to get started on this book.

Anyone and everyone is welcome into our book club. If you’ve managed to already read this month’s book pick or if you’d like to add it to your book list for this month, I’d love to discuss it with you in the comments below.

About My Favourite Mistake:

After 20 years, high-flying PR Anna Walsh no longer loves New York.

Returning to Ireland will be a fresh start, she tells her family.

They say: are you having a mid-life crisis?

Because back home, Anna can’t escape her past – the best friend she walked out on, the old flame she tried to put out.

Everywhere she turns, her mistakes are waiting.

But might they just save her?

I’m Laura. I started Novel Kicks in 2009. I wanted a place to post my writing as well as give other writers like me the opportunity to do the same. There is also a monthly book club, a writing room which features writing prompts, book reviews, competitions, author interviews and guest posts.

I grew up by the sea (my favourite place in the world) and I currently live in Hampshire. I am married to Chris, have a cat named Buddy and I would love to be a writer. I’m trying to write the novel I’ve talked so much about writing if only I could stop pressing delete. I’ve loved writing since creative writing classes in primary school. I have always wanted to see my teacher Miss Sayers again and thank her for the encouragement. When not trying to write the novel or writing snippets of stories on anything I can get my hands on, I love reading, dancing like a loon and singing to myself very badly. My current obsession is Once Upon a Time and I would be happy to live with magic in the enchanted forest surrounded by all those wonderful stories provided that world also included Harry Potter. I love reading chick lit. contemporary fiction and novels with mystery.
