I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have To Kill You by Ally Carter.
(Orchard Books, 2010.)
Review by Laura Parish.
Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses – but it’s really a school for spies. Cammie Morgan is fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways. But the one thing the Gallagher Academy hasn’t prepared her for is what to do when she falls for an ordinary boy who thinks she’s an ordinary girl.
Sure she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, and track him through a mall without him ever being the wiser, but can she have a normal relationship with a boy who can never know the truth about her?
The first book in the Gallagher Girls series, I found this a light, funny and enjoyable book. Young adult is not a category I’d normally choose to read. However, this book was very readable and entertaining. It made me want to be in spy school and I’m twenty nine. I’d describe it as similar to ‘Alias’ but with less bad guys and more laughter. The ending, which could have been predictable, wasn’t. I loved it; a series I would definitely like to continue reading.
