Mini Shopaholic – a great addition to the series.
2nd September 2010, Bantam Press.
Review by Laura Parish.
The latest book in the ‘Shopaholic’ series was released this month and we’re very excited about it…
Cue havoc in the toy department at Harrods and a spectacular performance at her own christening, a near disaster when Minnie starts bidding on eBay and the discovery that her penchant for Balenciaga handbags might be just as bad as her mother’s.
On top of this, Becky and her husband, Luke, are still living with her mum and dad, there’s a financial crisis so everyone’s having to cut back, including all her personal shopping clients, and Luke is feeling low after the death of his beloved stepmother. So Becky hatches a plan to surprise him and that’s when things get really complicated. Becky tries to keep her plan to herself but soon she’s told so many fibs she can’t keep track of them.
And it seems Becky isn’t the only one with a surprise up her Ally-Smith-limited-edition (it was 60% off, honest!) sleeve…
I had high expectations for this book and had been looking forward to it for months. I was worried though. What if I didn’t like it? What if it didn’t live up to my expectations? Despite this, I couldn’t wait to pull open the cover and start reading. The story picks up about two years after ‘Shopaholic and Baby’ left off and from the first page, Becky is back in force, with a ‘mini Becky’ in tow in the form of Minnie, her daughter. The fact that the beginning is set at Christmas is an added bonus (considering I love Christmas). It wasn’t long before I was curling up on the sofa, away from the horrible weather with this book, forgetting the time and the fact that I needed to sleep and go to work. I was sad when the book had to finish. I loved this book and if you love the Shopaholic series, I have no doubt you will love it too.
