Soon after his mother dies, forty one year old reclusive photographer Rob Fossick finds an unexplained package addressed to Mr Satoshi in his mother’s belongings. However, before he can do this, Rob will have to face his own past and reconnect with the world.
This book had been sat on the pile for a while but when I did start reading, I couldn’t stop. I found the plot instantly interesting.
Immediately, I am presented with a mystery and I felt invested in Rob’s story from the first chapter. I was trying to work out the identity of Mr Satoshi all the way through.
Rob is a flawed character who is facing personal crisis and demons. He is not where he expected to be in life. I liked how his character developed during the course of the novel. It felt realistic.
The supporting characters are strong, amusing and intriguing. I’d like to have an insight into their back stories.
I found this book to be well written and evenly plotted. The author sets the scene well and it’s very atmospheric. There was also a satisfactory ending.
This is a search and discover novel and I loved it. A great debut from Jonathan Lee.
